Committed 29 and Counting

This guy and I have been hanging out for 29 years. It seems crazy that over half my life I have spent with him. There have been many bumps and challenges and it takes commitment to make it last but it is so worth the effort. When we said the words for better or worse we meant it, I’m grateful for the journey, love, and joy he brings to my hyperactive self, ha. Happy Anniversary to us

Yeah for Spring

I always get so excited every year when the first official day of Spring rolls around and I pay for it every year. Now you would think that I would figure it out that I cannot do all the required maintenance of cleaning beds, pulling weeds, putting in new raised beds, planting, new boarders, etc. in one day, DUH. But every year I over due it and feel like I have been run over for several days after, ha. This year we were considering a new gazebo, permanent structure as we love to be outside all year long. In Portland it is important to have some kind of cover because it rains ALOT. I had a company come out and give us a quote for the new patio cover/gazebo and about passed out when he gave me the price. For a 12 by 14 cover they wanted $11,000, what? I think this is crazy so my husband and I headed to Lowes. Again if you follow my blog I am cheap…..and like to show people you can do beautiful things on a budget

We found this really cool huge red umbrella thing. When fully extended it is huge, and has these built in LED lights, super fun ($300 not bad). Then we found this recycled tire landscape edging. The area that holds the raised beds got a make over. Since my husband has an old football player back I of course got the hammering duty to connect and put in all the spikes to hold the edging in place. I think my right arm is a Popeye arm. We already had the bark from last year, we buy it in qty when it is on sale 4 for $10, so no cost.

This weekend the mulch sale is on again and yep you guessed it I will be taking the truck to load up. I hope you love it. I can’t wait to get my garden started.

Lets talk lashes

My best friend is the beauty guru and her lashes are amazing. I have gone and had lash extensions that made me crazy because I felt like I couldn’t wash my face, my issue but I have to wash off mascara.

So a few weeks ago my girl brought over lashes and schooled me on how to put them in easily. Ha right this is a lie, big fat lie. She showed me in like 5 minutes just glue, place, etc. I was going to a party, it took me 5 tries, a tube of glue and a whole lot of laughing but got them on.

I’m sure this is easy if you put lashes on daily but for me this was hilarious and difficult. I love them but good lord help me….

Brow adventures

let’s just be honest as we age our eye brows become sparse or for me pretty much non existent. I decided to go visit my bff’s brow lady this week, here is day 1. They are beautiful but dark, just the first step to the end goal. My husband said Burt from Sesame Street ha. I will post weekly progress but I’m juiced to see the final results.

Ok today was brow touch up, so beautiful

They are always DARK on day 1 but final will be Fantastic

Kitchen remodel a wrap

The kitchen remodel is done. 3 weeks front to back is amazing, my builder is the man. To see the before look at the previous post but I have outlets and lighting everywhere not to mention unlimited cabinet space. My husband will be thrilled when he sees it for the first time in person this week. I have sent pictures daily but you can’t appreciate it until you walk in.

Clean freak

I am that person who loves to vacuum ( I know it’s a sickness). I also cannot stand a cluttered garage, my car must be inside.

The second bay of the garage is too small for my husbands truck and is the temporary spot for a fridge and freezer until the kitchen remodel is done.

Well for some reason the extra space became the dumping spot for everything, ugh no I get anxiety just opening the garage. Today was garage cleaning day. Who spends their day off cleaning, this girl yep.

  • Started at 9 am
  • Finished at 2 pm

I can sleep well tonight

Cleaning on Mothers day

My husband is gone this weekend to visit his mother. While everyone is gone I made a master plan to get crap done today. I started bright and early by unloading both of my closets, yes I have 2. I figured it was not only a great day to purge but also help other mommas who don’t have anything on this beautiful day. Check out the before and afters. I’m proud to say I took 4 bags of clothes and shoes to donate and oh how great it is to unload the clutter. Noone needs all that.

Paint It

I have repeatedly stated how much I love paint therapy, that’s what I call it anyway. Those yellow UGLY oak cabinets are no more. Sunday was the one day in the last month that it didn’t rain so I took full advantage and re-did my bathroom cabinets in a chocolate brown. They look darker in the photo I think because of the light but they are beautiful.

People listen to me, a can of paint is the cheapest way to change the look of an entire room and if you hate it just paint it again, there not a rule saying you can only have 2 coats of paint on a wall. I am not a professional and my saw horse is an old adjustable ironing board that works fantastic. You can move it up and down and it folds away after you are done. It helps that General Finishes makes milk paint. This stuff it ridiculously easy. No sanding, yes you heard me no sanding. You wipe down the cabinets with tsp and you are ready to paint.

They are not paying me to say this but I wish they would ha.. I spend the next few weeks after finishing doing some small touch up and sealing but this is just because you don’t always see areas until the cabinets are hung.

Be BOLD and Go Paint. You won’t regret it, that is everyone except my mother.

Mom please don’t paint I will help you.
