It is unbelievable that I am 52, yep and as we age a whole lotta shit changes. First, skin, good lord I took a selfie a few days ago and wholly pores. When exactly did my skin look like sand paper. Facial hair and brows: facial hair has multiplied, the fu man chu ugh no not cute and everyday I am tweezing some long ass black course hair, what the hell… my eyebrows are nothing, one has some hair the other has a serious lack. Last, the night sweats are out of control, not only do you not sleep but when you do just get a frickin towel to lay on or you might wake up thinking you have been swimming.
If I can fix it, I will. Here are my brows micro bladed day 1. Don’t panic in 2 weeks they will be half this color and thickness. Breathe they will be beautiful. Next week is lip blushing, will let you all in on that too
I love color, print, and home improvement projects. I had previously tried to update these old closet doors and needless to say it wasn’t good. Last week while shopping at my very favorite store “goodwill” I found this fantastic animal print wallpaper for 6 bucks a roll. I bought both rolls and came home to get busy. It took me 2 full days of scoring and scraping to get the old ugly wall paper off but now the doors are FANTASTIC, no one can say I’m boring. My decorating style is certainly bold. I hope you like it.
Anyone who knows me is aware, I live for eggnog and pumpkin season. Well guess what, I found my first batch of nog, yes. It’s a beautiful Fall day in the Pacific Northwest so I off course got up and put on the crockpot full of Mississippi chicken and yep Punkin Eggnog cake. You all need smell o vision because my house is where you wanna be today. Jason I’m thinking of you today 😃
I felt some kinda way today when I saw a woman I know post a video of her beautiful home with a view. So let me break it down for real. I have worked since I was 13, put myself through college while taking my 2 sons with me to night classes. I have accomplished so much, owned 3 homes and truly am so proud of being able to say I don’t need a man. I love my husband of 30 years but certainly would be a ok without him. This woman since i have met her has looked for ONLY men with money who could take care of her so she could just be cute with no job. And there have been lots. My question is how can you be proud when nothing you have belongs to you? Maybe I’m different but if I drive a Hyundai I paid for it is better than a benz that dude can yank at anytime.
I have learned so much about an rv in the last month, I thought I would share the adventure Hooking up the truck to the camper is the hardest thing, first you have to back right up to the hitch connector and wait for the clamp to engage. Once this is done we have to pull it out of our steep ass driveway, hitch grinding the entire time into the street so we can get level enough to put on the stabilizer bars. These damn things scare the crap out of me so I simply stand back and watch. You have to put the trailer tongue down to take the weight off the truck then put on these steel bars in with a pry bar that makes a loud noise when on, good lord. Oh then there is two chain connectors that attach to the truck and the power supply for the lights to work. I’m tired just talking about it even though after the 3rd time we did the whole process in under 10 minutes.
On our first trip we learned that you need atleast a 4000 watt generator after we lost all power, oh n check your battery connectors to make sure they are all hooked up, another lesson as ours weren’t. Locate the gfi before you leave just in case it gets tripped you know where to find it, its in our bathroom, who knew.
The great part is we get to sleep in our own bed, no one bothers us, and we get to go to great places. The pictures below were taken at Mt Hood.
I love the holidays but not for the same reasons as most people. I love the holidays because it provides some much needed downtime and my boys are normally home. It has always been interesting to me that this is the only time of the year I ever hear or see anyone express gratitude. So my question is why? Every year they have holiday toy drives and let’s volunteer to serve holiday meals but what about the rest of the year.
I am very blessed to be employed and have a permanent place to call home. There are a lot of people who don’t have this and struggle daily just to find a safe place to sleep. I don’t know what the answer is to help solve this problem and the circumstances that lead to homelessness could impact any of us at anytime. I heard a statistic that each of us is just one paycheck away. Let that sink in for a moment.
What can I do to help create a brighter future for others and ensure I also remain self sufficient? Here are a few ideas:
Engage and talk to people
We never know someone’s story so be kind
Most people are willing and grateful to be treated no different than anyone else (I learned this when I worked in the corrections field)
respect and eye contact go a long way
Gather a group of friends and do a closet purge
We all have way to much stuff
I have crap in my closet that still has tags on it
Giving much needed clothing to those in need can change someone’s entire perspective and outlook
If you look good you feel good my mom used to say
When you travel take those free toiletries
These are the perfect size to put in a care bag for others
For women feminine hygiene items are key so pick up a few extra on your next trip to the store
Inexpensive and necessary
Spend as much on those in need as you do for xmas gifts
If you plan to spend $300 on gifts spend the same on items for any cause
I am passionate about St Judes, animals, veterans, and rehab centers
There are young people who get out of the military and rehab that have NO support
Last stop thinking that you NEED everything you see, Pay off those credit cards and cut them up, pay off your vehicle if you have one and drive it til the wheels fall off. Do you care if the person at the stop light thinks your car is great? Ugh no
I have committed to this and as of this month I have no debt other than my house and the student loan that I now am hitting hard to pay off in full. All of these saving can then be used to help others. Get inspired and do something great
I was watching some random show today and they were going over how to properly eat nachos, ha really. A food that is by design supposed to be messy and shared, why would there be rules. Use a fork and only take two chips, shut up. I truly believe that food is to be enjoyed and if everyone in the room wants to dig into anything I cook, go and have a great time, oh and in the process have a cocktail too. My husband and I LOVE to cook and this is something that is truly a fun thing that we enjoy, we invite everyone to participate and even if you know nothing about food come on over and get your hands dirty, please don’t take the joy out of something so fantastic.
