She Shed Redo

I have this old shed in the backyard that I decided a year ago is going to be my She Shed. Here’s the problem, the previous old homeowner put siding on the shed and let it rot, so mice and spiders love it.

Well I love it too so they are being evicted. I contacted a slew of handymen who wanted to charge me 3800 to replace just the siding. Ugh no, material is 500. Yep so guess what, I’m doing it myself. I am going to buy the T1-11 board, two sheets at a time and fix this old girl myself.

Have I ever done this before? Nope. Do I have a circular saw? Yep. Do I have a nail gun? Nope but I have a drill , electric screw driver and a shitload of screws. Do I know how to do an accurate measurement? Nope but i will figure it out, after all what is you tube for anyway.

This is going to be great, the shed couldn’t get worse so what do i have to lose other than a few hundred bucks and my sanity, ha

Stay tuned as I may have a new profession

For the love of wallpaper

I love color, print, and home improvement projects. I had previously tried to update these old closet doors and needless to say it wasn’t good. Last week while shopping at my very favorite store “goodwill” I found this fantastic animal print wallpaper for 6 bucks a roll. I bought both rolls and came home to get busy. It took me 2 full days of scoring and scraping to get the old ugly wall paper off but now the doors are FANTASTIC, no one can say I’m boring. My decorating style is certainly bold. I hope you like it.

My son is home and for the first time in a year I have exhaled. The book I wrote to not go crazy on this wild journey of my son’s addiction and incarceration is available this Thursday, September 12th on Kindle and Amazon. My hope is that anyone who reads it will know they are not alone and that I can provide some laughter and hope along the way.

OMG really

I was watching house hunter tonight on HGTV and I am amazed at the stupidity that I see from those who have endless money. So if you don’t have a door to close off the toilet is that is a deal breaker? shut up… Do you fart in front of your spouse? My husband knows that this is healthy as the doctor who did my intestine surgery 30 years ago stated that passing gas is essential so get over it, oh my god. If you have a place to sleep, people you love, I don’t care if it is a one room shack, celebrate… thats all

The quick way to divorce

i7_i7__Charcoal_Photo_InSitu_AmazonAlexa_LivingRoom.0

My co-worker came in today so excited she was given a Rumba for Christmas.

This little gadget here: would be grounds for divorce in my house. Why you ask?

  • Anyone who knows me is aware that I LOVE to vacuum.
    • The only rooms in my house that have carpet are the bedrooms (which is both good and bad); the additional parts of the house have solid surface floors and throw rugs.
    • I added the rugs to ensure that the floors didn’t get scratched and honestly to provide additional areas for me to clean.
  • It baffles me that anyone would not want to vacuum, are you crazy?
    • I think the all the new electronic gadgets have created a bunch of lazy folks who can’t bend over anymore, my observation of course
    • Now Alexa is a whole other story, she can play music ha
  • Each time I turn on the vacuum that sound gives me such joy
    • I know that when I am done I get to see all the junk that has been sucked up
      • Dog hair, food, dirt, etc. (you have a visual of what you have accomplished)
      • The satisfaction of knowing how clean you have made the floors is great (this includes my cars)
    • Stress relief, yes it works no Xanax for me
      • Just think about it:
        • No one can talk to me when I’m vacuuming
        • The TV can’t be on because you can’t hear it
        • Anything left out the night before has to be picked up so I can vacuum
        • If you are sleeping, it’s time to get up
        • If you put in your headphones you can vacuum with Pharrell (HAPPY)
        • I have a valid reason to move the furniture
          • Last week I was lying in bed at 2 am thinking about how I was going to rearrange the bedroom when we got up
          • I know it’s a sickness don’t judge, ha
          • FYI, My husband loves the new layout, win win

The Yard Work Battle

First let me state how grateful I am to be a home owner.

  • I love the fact that I have a large space to keep me busy and that I can close the door and have no one bother me
  • no upstairs or downstairs neighbors
  • no home owners association (the very best thing)
  • no one complaining if my music is up to loud (I’m old so this doesn’t happen often) ha
  • ample parking

The yard work however is never ending. Yesterday after putting in a full day at the office, I came home to a truckload bark in bags. They are of course on sale this week so my husband thought it was a great idea to pick up as many as his truck would hold.

I am now the official “bark spreader”, (yep my title).

Those bags aren’t going to unload themselves and need to be carried to the back of the house for distribution in the new flower beds.

  • 18 bags later and today my elbows are sore
  • I have never heard of sore elbows, is that real?

The photos show my progress.

Frugal Ideas

space make it count

As I have said many times I love love home improvement. Easter weekend the project was to cap the 6 sprinkler heads in this tiny area (not sure who made that decision) but they are no longer and it took me all of 5 minutes. Second cover up the mud pit and turn it into something usable. So here it is, fire pit area complete and all it took was 15 bags of gravel and a few chairs. Firepit we had. I look forward to less doggie prints on the floors. Yes these spoiled babies make a mess.

I hope you like it. Bring on summer cause I’m over this rain for real.
